Kristie Weir
Dr Kristie Weir (BSc, MPH, PhD) is a NHMRC Emerging Leader Research Fellow in The University of Sydney School of Public Health. Kristie is part of the Sydney Health Literacy Lab, the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics, and Wiser Healthcare Research Collaboration. Her research focuses on medication-related health communication and decision making, with a particular focus on older adults, deprescribing, and the primary care setting.
Kristie was awarded a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship and spent 2-years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and remains an adjunct researcher.
Her international postdoctoral research involved a 14-country survey study with older adults about medications and deprescribing integrating and a deprescribing randomized controlled trial in the primary care setting in Switzerland. Her research collaborators from SHLL include Carissa Bonner, focusing on cardiovascular medication communication, and Danielle Muscat, developing training for end-of-life communication.
