ABC Radio - Young men more likely to believe coronavirus myths

One of the reasons that Melbourne and Mitchell Shire had to go to Stage 4 lockdown was the low level of compliance with social distancing, particularly by young people.

It's not known the extent to which the reason for the low adherence to social distancing and other measures was the belief in myths about the coronavirus such as its seriousness and how COVID-19 is caused and transmitted - anything from 5G to hot drinks and vitamin C.

Researchers at the University of Sydney have been running a monthly survey of social media users since Australia's first lockdown and they've just released findings which show who holds what beliefs and perhaps why.
